Uba Sani’s reaction to the tribunal’s ruling in the Kaduna governor’s race has caused confusion

Posted by

Uba Sani, Governor of Kaduna State, has responded to Thursday’s ruling from the State Governorship Election Petition Tribunal.

He saw the verdict as a vindication of the people’s mandate they gave him to lead the state.

However, BANKPAWA notes that the verdict from the tribunal is being misunderstood.

Depending on which source you believe, the court either fired the governor while pronouncing the election inclusive or validated Sani’s election after dismissing the petition filed by the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, and its candidate, Isa Ashiru.

Uba, however, praised the verdict, expressing his tremendous happiness.

In a statement he personally signed, he added, “The judgement is an unequivocal affirmation of the popular mandate graciously given to me by the good people of Kaduna State.”

I applaud the Tribunal’s clarity and rigor. They have improved our understanding of electoral democracy in the courts and in reality.

Isah Ashiru Kudan, my good brother in the law, deserves praise for going to the Tribunal to air his concerns.

His actions show that he is committed to democratic values and understands the importance of civility in politics.

I’m appealing to the opposition parties in Kaduna State, including those led by Hon. Isah Ashiru. Together, we can take our home state to new heights.

All of us have an interest in the success of PROJECT KADUNA. The goal is not for anyone’s own glory. Our citizens demand that all available resources be applied to solving the state’s many problems. The pursuit of peace, security, progress, and development of our state should unify all political actors and send a strong message to the people.

I urge members of our party to tone down their jubilation over this triumph. They need to make peace with our comrades of opposing political parties, both individually and collectively.

We should pray to the Supreme Being for His continuing help and protection rather than throw a party. Let’s ignore the distractions and get to work.
