Ugochukwu’s Reasons for Joining Chelsea

Posted by

Chelsea’s new midfielder Lesley Ugochukwu has shared his reasoning for signing with the club.

During the last summer transfer window, Ugochukwu made the move to Chelsea from Stade Rennais.

Chelsea’s €27 million transfer fee to the Ligue 1 club for a relatively unheralded 19-year-old star caused some consternation.

Ugochukwu joined the Stade Rennais youth system in 2012, and he made 60 total appearances for the club’s first team before moving on to Chelsea.

Ugochukwu may struggle to break into Mauricio Pochettino’s starting lineup at Chelsea due to his youth and lack of Premier League experience.

A transfer to Chelsea may also be seen as happening too early in his career by others.

Now, however, he has provided a straightforward justification for his move to the Premier League powerhouse.

Ugochuwku noted how rare it was to get the opportunity to sign with a major club like Chelsea.

When asked why he chose Chelsea, Ugochukwu responded, “There are trains that don’t pass twice” (as quoted by Le Parisien).
