In order to combat insecurity and brigandage in Zamfara State, the State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC, has reaffirmed its dedication to coordinating with vigilante groups.
Sani Mustapha, NSCDC’s State Commandant, made this announcement while hosting the Zamfara State Chapter of the Vigilante Group of Nigeria.
He said the NSCDC understands the value they bring to the state’s overall security system and is prepared to provide them with every ounce of assistance and synergy they require.
Mustapha emphasized that the NSCDC will use the Corps’s intelligence if it is provided to them.
Therefore, he urged the vigilante organization to collaborate with other sister agencies at the local level to eliminate crime and terror throughout the state.
State Commander of the Vigilante Group of Nigeria Rabiu Bawa Maru had earlier stated that the organization requires the backing of the NSCDC in order to properly operate in the state’s rural areas.
