Wike has banned hawking on the streets of Abuja, claiming that criminals are exploiting corn vendors

Street vending has been outlawed by Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister Nyesom Wike.

Wike said that corn vendors tipped off criminals.

Those in charge at the Federal Capital Territory Administration and the Federal Capital Development Authority were present for his remarks.

Wike said, “Street trading is forbidden. Insecurities arise because people peddling grain tend to litter the area randomly.

In addition to making purchases, criminals often utilize this time to sneak around and share intel with other bad guys. It is crucial that we get rid of the street vendors.

We must put a halt to the development control crisis. Why do we have shanties and illegal buildings all over the place? Forbidden construction will be razed. It doesn’t matter how high up you are; the building must fall.
