Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Mr. Nyesom Wike, has announced that the government has finalized preparations to restore monthly sanitation in Abuja.
On Monday, after a closed-door meeting with contractors overseeing various projects in the FCT, Wike made this announcement in Abuja.
He said he had previously informed President Bola Tinubu on the notion of designating at least two Saturdays every month for sanitation from 7:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m.
He claims that this change will make it easier for logistics providers serving the FCT to access the market and for other public facilities to remove trash.
Wike has stated that everyone must work together to keep Abuja clean.
In order to succeed, we need everyone to give a little. We are about to endure pain on an unprecedented scale. You’re also a part of the refuse problem.
This is the small thing you can do to help: spend three hours of your Saturday clearing the trash and bringing it outside so we can evacuate and dispose of it.
“We are appealing to you (residents) to cooperate with us so that we can achieve our goals,” he stated.
The minister said that there had been some progress made in the area of street lighting.
I can’t promise you that all of Abuja’s streets will be lighted up just yet, but we’re getting close.
Wike promised that individuals responsible for distorting the Abuja Master Plan will be punished.
