Governor Mai Mala Buni of Yobe State signed into law on Friday two legislation creating the Hisbah Commission and the Yobe State Information Technology Development Agency (YITDA).
Mamman Mohammed, Director-General, Press and Media Affairs, informed the Governor in a statement.
The statement claims that the purpose of the Hisbah Commission statute is to oversee the application of Shariah and to curb social vices in the state.
“Similarly, the Yobe State Information Technology Development Agency law is to coordinate and collaborate with institutions in mentoring and training youths in the field of information technology in the state,” the release continued.
The two laws passed by the Yobe State House of Assembly and signed by Governor Buni take effect on Friday, October 6, 2023, per the announcement.
